Understanding Crypto Addresses

A crypto address is a unique identifier for a cryptocurrency wallet, enabling it to send and receive digital currencies. Similar to real-life addresses, email addresses, or website URLs, each crypto address is distinct and represents the location of a wallet within the blockchain.

Most blockchain addresses are designed to be unreadable by humans, typically appearing as long, random combinations of letters and numbers.

Blockchain addresses are public, allowing anyone to use a blockchain explorer to view the transactions associated with an address.

Although addresses are public, they usually maintain anonymity (or pseudonymity) since the individuals or entities associated with them typically do not disclose their real names. However, there are instances where the connection between addresses and the individuals or organizations behind them is known, such as with exchanges or token project owners and founders.
