What Is Scrypt?
Scrypt is an alternative proof-of-work (PoW) algorithm used in Bitcoin mining as a substitute for SHA-256.
It is designed to rely more on memory rather than pure CPU power, to reduce the advantage that ASICs (Application-Specific Integrated Circuits) have in mining.
By doing so, Scrypt aims to promote greater network participation and improve energy efficiency in the mining process.
