Dorian Nakamoto

Who Is Dorian Nakamoto?

Dorian Nakamoto is a Japanese-American physicist identified in certain publications as the potential “face behind Bitcoin.”

This belief originated from an article by Leah McGrath Goodman in Newsweek, which claimed that Dorian is the real Satoshi Nakamoto.

One of the main points supporting this claim is the coincidence of Dorian’s birth name being Satoshi Nakamoto.

Nakamoto’s Libertarian Views

According to his daughter, Nakamoto’s libertarian views were shaped by being fired from a job twice in the 1990s.

He encouraged his daughter to create her own company “not under the government’s thumb.”

Dorian’s Ambiguous Response

Dorian became a likely candidate for being Bitcoin’s pseudonymous founder due to his non-denial when questioned about Bitcoin.

Instead, he responded, “I am no longer involved in that, and I cannot discuss it.

It’s been turned over to other people. They are in charge of it now. I no longer have any connection.”

However, Dorian later denied all claims, stating that he had never heard of Bitcoin before the interview and that his answer was misinterpreted.

Unraveling the Confusion

Interestingly, Dorian initially misunderstood Goodman’s question, thinking it was related to his military work.

He later mentioned that he thought Goodman was referring to his work at Citibank.

On the same day, the real Satoshi’s P2P Foundation account made its first comment in five years, stating, “I am not Dorian Nakamoto.”
